Almost 2009!

Christmas has come and gone, and newyears eve will be here soon. I can't believe that 2008 went by so quickly. I guess time really does fly as you get older.
I had a good year, and am thrilled to have found etsy this year. I have enjoyed opening a shop there, and joining the quiltsy street team. I made some new friends and made a little bit of money, and got alot of enjoyment out of it.

I hope to get some new items in 2009 and get rid of the ones that don't seem to appeal to people.

I have some new fun potholders, and I am working on some new aprons and quilts.

I hope everyone has a healthy and prosperous new year.

Merry Christmas Everyone

I wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanakah, and Happy New Year.

As the holidays begin and the year comes to an end, it is a good time to think of the the blessings we have in our lives, and to tell all the people we are close to how much we value them. Even those of us who aren't rich by the conventional definition can be very blessed with good friends, loving families, and good health. Money doesn't make the world go round, but love does.

I hope all of you get the opportunity to be with the ones you love this season, and to remember the reason for the season.

Originals by Lauren Giveaway
Hi Apronistas! I have a super fun giveaway for you this week! Lauren makes the most adorable aprons, and the best part is that she makes aprons for "curvy girls" - here is the description of her "plus size" aprons:
I designed this style, and it is the most popular. I saw alot of aprons out there, but not alot of cute plus size aprons. Alot of really good cooks enjoy eating, and might not be a size 6. The cutest aprons were for smaller women. This style fits a larger misses size through plus sizes. I also custom make them to you measurements. They have extra long ties at the waist and long adjustable ties at the neck, to accomadate taller or shorter women.
I have been sewing as a business for over 20 years. I have done different things, but always in the sewwing field. I now do it fulltime. I do dressmaking and alterations out of my home, and alter gowns for a bridal shop ( in my home).Lauren also makes cute bags, bibs, and quilts! She is one talented lady!So this week's giveaway is for the winner's choice of apron (yay!). To enter, just go to Lauren's Etsy shop, and choose your favorite Apron, and comment back here. If your comment is chosen by the lucky random number generator, you win your choice! You can also get an extra entry by blogging about this giveaway on your own site and linking back here!Since we got a late start, this giveaway will run until Sunday night at 9pm Pacific, and the winner will be chosen Monday. Good luck!

Just Added, Velvet Scarves!

I wanted to share with you my newest item. I am making a variety of scarves out of velvet with an assortment of embellishments. I currently have them in midnight blue and cranberry, with either beads, sequins or fringe.
I am planning to add black with pearls.
These are very special, but can be used everyday. I know that I like to feel a little dressed up , even when I am all bundled up in the winter, and was thinking that maybe you do too.
I wanted these to be luxurious, yet affordable, so I have priced them at $20 each.
So treat yourself, or pick one up for a friend, while they last.

Quilts In The Storque

http://www.etsy.com/storque/spotlight/etsy-finds-warming-up-piece-by-piece-2660/#comment-38330
Check out this great grouping of quilts in the storque. Danielle was nice enough to feature a beautiful collection of quilts at the perfect time of year. Just as we are winterizing our homes and cars, we need to think about our bedding and decor. Quilts not only make wonderful, warm blankets to curl up under, but they look great on our tables and on our walls.
So check out the article and check out our quilts, and maybe even take one home.

Can You Believe It?

It is snowing here!! It isn't even Halloween yet. I am not happy about this situation. I sure hope it is gone in the morning!

On to a more pleasant subject, I relisted some aprons today. They have been in my shop for a couple of months, and had slipped to the back, so I wanted to get them front and center again. If you are interested in these, or any of my other items, please visit http://www.originalsbylauren.etsy.com/.

The Fruit Ladies Are Here!!

They're here! The fruit ladies have come to www.originalsbylauren.etsy.com
I just adore this fabric. I don't know about you, but I know what shape I am. We have all heard of apples and pears, but cherries and strawberries? It is so fun that I had a hard time cutting into it.
I decided to make one of my generous sized aprons and a quilted table runner. The apron fits from about a size 12 up through plus sizes, depending on how tight you tie it. It is made for a real cook, someone who eats!
The runner is perfect for any table, and could also be used as a wallhanging. Just let me know if you want a sleeve sewn on the back for hanging.
Just wanted to share.
